I make collages by cutting images from discarded books to create movement and three-dimensionality through shape, negative space, and scale on a flat plane. I generally cut and disperse the images I work with to remove them from their illustrative or narrative contexts, leaving only color, pattern, and texture. The results may possibly suggest a narrative, but one divorced from the original images. My work offers spaces for intense visual engagement and contemplation as a form of problem solving without a problem. I manufacture chaos as a means of achieving order.
